Vikowski - The Long Run

1.
Remember those nights, a sky full of stars, the sound of waves, our guitars. Hungry for change, hungry for love, no future we’d ever be afraid of. Remember the fire burning inside, Gregory House, a walk on the seaside. “Midnight coffee”, a sweet serenade for every young dreamer willing to evade. We lost our energy and all our dreams Mountains we climb we our bare hands, cities we live in with no friends. Women we think we love come and go. How were we supposed to know that life was going to be that hard, and every winter would tear us apart? When will we finally learn to let go of things we cannot control. But we found new energy, the strength to carry on. And every time we talk it feels like nothing changed. But don’t kid yourself, this race we run, it’s never over.
2.
Everything you want is closer than you think, It’s right before your eyes and you miss it if you blink. You cannot afford to waste your time like you do. You saw me walking by with my headphones on, You should apologize for everything you’ve done. But you, you’re too proud to come and see this through. You don’t deserve to be in my life, I’m just a man and we’re in a fight. Oh, mate you ignore how long I’ve fought. Where I begin, where I belong. You looked me in the eye and chose to seal my fate, but when you’ll realize it’ll be too late. ‘Cause for you nothing matters more than your views. You don’t deserve to be in my life, I’m just a man and we’re in a fight. Oh, mate you ignore how long I’ve fought. Where I begin, where I belong. ‘Cause you don’t deserve to be in my life. We feel the pain, but we feel alive. I wish I could tell you how broken the wheel. Where I belong, where I begin.
3.
This is my kingdom. Here, I am king. I do not belong here. In my kingdom, my flag is down. Must I wear this crown? I miss my people, my family. But life’s not bad here. In my kingdom, I have what I need. But am I truly free? Am I truly free? As winter falls, leaves lie on the ground. Trees no longer grow. No one walks around.
4.
I don’t need to go out as I used to do. And when the sun goes down, I don’t fear the gloom. I just wait for the moon. Everything’s fine as long as I’m with you. Oh, it doesn’t matter what we do. And every time that I look into your eyes, I wonder how I survived all those years without you
5.
I figured out my mistakes. I need to get control of my bad temper when I walk around. Every day, it starts the same: the are too many people on the train. I hate them all. I realized what it takes. I found the way to keep the memories away when I go to sleep. Every day, it ends the same: when I’m back home there’s never time to do the things I really like. I always feel so tired. Is this the life I’ve chosen? Or did I find myself in it? Is this what I really wanted? ‘Cause I’m not sure about it. I wish I were somewhere by the sea, touched by the sun, breathing in the breeze. But every day, it feels the same way: I wish I lived somewhere far away from all this grey, pollution and decay. Is this the life I’ve chosen? Or did I find myself in it? Is this what I really wanted? ‘Cause I’m not sure about it. No more.
6.
The best thing in the world is talking to you. The best thing in the world is being silent with you. Don’t you feel as I do? Everything’s fine as long as I’m with you. Oh, it doesn’t matter baby what we do. And every time that I look into your eyes, I wonder how I survived all those years without you
7.
Sometimes, when everything seems lost a glimpse of hope is the only thing one needs to carry on, but it’s no longer enough for me. Somehow, I find no words to tell how I feel without you. I need your lips hopelessly. Don’t dry your eyes, let it go. We’ll travel to infinity. We’ll travel to infinity.
8.
I want us to grow old, looking at the skies. I remember once I was told that love never dies. If you hold my hand, we’ll rise. Oh, it doesn’t matter baby what we do. And every time that I look into your eyes, I wonder how I survived all those years without you, without you, without you.

10.
Here it comes the night again. It slowly falls upon the trees. Everything’s dark around me. I cannot see the path I’m on. I don’t know where I belong, and what I want. I just wish these thoughts to fade away. I’m knocking now upon your door, We’re not the same ones anymore. Our broken hearts on the floor. I see a world of possibilities, Yet full of uncertainties. How many casualties? I know we won’t make it right today, But how long must I wait before we find the way? I learnt at my expense: sometimes it’s better not to say anything.
